Michalina Almindo

Michalina Almindo is an award winning Director and Producer and a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. She began her career in the entertainment industry nine years ago first as an actress and soon after began Producing. Her first film audition was for independent filmmaker Thomas Farone. She not only secured a role but was active in all aspects of production including locations, talent, sound and scheduling. Over the span of nine years she continued to work as an actress, producer and most recently a Director. In 2003 she was in a film titled Nate Dogg that went on to win best debut feature film at the Raindance film festival in London receiving nice notices including a mention in Time Magazine in Europe in an article titled “Sticking it to the Studios."

As a Producer Michalina has three feature films in post production. One titled Aftermath expected to have a wide theatrical release in 2009. Aftermath was Written, Directed and
Edited by Thomas Farone and was Chris Penn’s last film. It also stars, Tony Danza, Anthony Michael Hall, Frank Whaley, Federico Castelluccio, Jamie Harrold and Elisabeth Rohm. She recently wrapped NOIR Written/Directed/Edited by Jeff Knight and EnjoyYourself Written and Directed by George Massimillo all scheduled for a 2009 release. Also as a Producer she has three shorts Breaking Up, Boxed In, and Four that are doing very well on the film festival circuit.

As a Director she has two short films on the film festival circuit one titled Distraction that was selected as one of the Programmers Choice at the prestigious Hollywood Black Film Festival in Hollywood that went on to win Best short film at the Trinity Film Coalition and is slated to screen in October at the International Black Film Festival in Nashville and the Woodstock Film Festival. Her short Four ironically did win four awards at the Edwood Film Festival September 2007.

Michalina has a Production Company called Independent Artists Collaborative LLC (IAC). In addition to doing production her company mentors artists of all walks by offering on going studies in acting, filmmaking and the business of show business. In the spirit of collaboration she provides a network of support, information and work to all who are interested. Her company encourages artists to collaborate not compete. In the last few months IAC has produced feature films, shorts, music videos and trailers with several projects in development.

She is extremely passionate about all aspects of filmmaking in front of and behind the camera. She brings a joyous spirit, with confidence, passion, calm and the love of collaboration to her work and the world.
